Welcome!

If you’re reading this you probably care a lot about Alexandria’s public schools. I do too. I’ve dedicated my career to improving public education and in 2021 I decided to use my knowledge and expertise in service to our community by running for School Board. Over the last three years we have made incredible progress, but there is still more work to do. I am seeking re-election because I know that strong schools require good people to keep showing up. I hope you’ll join me!

Priorities

Improving Academic Outcomes

Increasing Retention and Continuity

Addressing Capacity Needs

Meeting Students’ Diverse Needs

Fostering Connection and Trust

Engaging Families

For as long as I can remember I have been fascinated by how people learn. I recall being in elementary school and thinking about how I would teach the class. So it wasn’t surprising that I eventually became a bilingual education teacher. After years of teaching, I left the classroom to pursue a doctorate in education to have a greater impact on the field. After working at a large research institute, I founded Merit, a small business working directly with schools and districts to improve educational outcomes. All three of my children attend George Mason Elementary School. Their experiences and the community our family has found there are some of the many reasons we love living in Alexandria.

Strengthening public education is my life’s work.
